One of the greatest inventions in my life time has been the smart phone and earbuds because with them I can surround myself with inspirational music as I go through my day. Whenever I am cleaning house, cooking, driving, working in my office, or doing something on my computer I usually have my earbuds in listening to my favorite gospel music on Pandora from my IPhone. Today you can create your own radio stations online with all your favorite songs and genres. If you know about Pandora, I’m sure you will agree. If you don’t, I highly recommend it.

It is not unusual for people to catch me singing or dancing while I work, because when I think about the goodness of Jesus I can’t help myself. I get caught up in the music as it declares the glory of God, singing scripture and testimonies in song that encourage my heart while keeping my focus on the Lord.

One of my favorite songs is “I Won’t Let You Fall” written and sung by Helen Miller. It is an awesome song about the amazing friend we have in Jesus who says “I won’t let you fall if you lean on me”. The first time I heard it I had to stop what I was doing because of the power and majesty in the music. If you would like to hear this beautiful song, go to YouTube and search for it – you will be blessed.

Listening to Godly music all day puts words of scripture in my heart, and this song led me to Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

To lean on Jesus, we have to be close to him. In Biblical times, oxen were connected around the neck with wooden yokes so they could pull the load together. In offering us his yoke, Jesus is saying he wants to work with us in pulling the load of life. His yoke is easy to share and our burdens will seem lighter when the Lord is pulling with us. When I listen to “I Won’t let You Fall” I can feel him by my side. We are together in this thing. Every step I take, he takes with me because we are yoked together. His yoke feels light like grace and mercy. His yoke infuses me with love and power. It gives me strength and makes me want to move forward in life no matter what the day brings.

Sometimes I can feel Jesus taking the greater weight of the load, and I know he can help me bare my burdens. When the load gets too heavy for me, I can stop and lean on him because he is right there with me. He won’t let me fall because we are yoked together. He is not going to fall and neither am I. If I get tired, if I stumble, I can lean on Jesus and he won’t let me fall.

I would rather listen to God’s music all day long than all the bad news coming at us from every direction, so if you see me dancing down the street with my ear buds in you’ll know I’m praising the Lord the 2018 way!
